OptiPhos® - The Advanced Phytase

OptiPhos® is the next-generation phytase product and represents the latest in phytase enzyme research and technology. OptiPhos releases 2 times more phosphorus from feed grain in pigs and 3 times more phosphorus from feed grain in poultry than any available phytase. OptiPhos PF™ provides the same potency for those producers that pellet their feed.

Surviving the increasing cost of phosphorus has become a significant problem for swine and poultry producers. OptiPhos can solve this problem by creating a total cost savings of over $5.50 per ton of feed consumed. A top performing phytase enzyme like OptiPhos, when used in varying concentrations for pigs in the 50-280 lbs range, can allow for a total replacement of all inorganic supplemental phosphorus. OptiPhos can accomplish all this while maintaining growth rates and bone mineralization, improving feed efficiency, and substantially reducing phosphorus excretions. OptiPhos is the next-generation phytase product and represents the latest in phytase enzyme research and technology. OptiPhos is the next-generation phytase that allows pigs to better utilize the phosphorus in feed grains.

Pigs need phosphorus primarily for bone and muscle development, but also to better utilize energy in their diet. Insufficient phosphorus intake results in reduced bone and muscle accretion, and can lead to loss of skeletal integrity.

However, pigs can't digest phosphorus from feed grains because they lack sufficient levels of phytase, the enzyme that releases phosphorus from grain. In fact, only 20-30% of phosphorus in feed grains is available to meet nutritional requirements. As a result, most phosphorus from feed grains is excreted as waste into the environment.

OptiPhos is the next-generation phytase product and represents the latest in phytase enzyme research and technology. OptiPhos releases 3 times more phosphorus from feed grain in poultry than any available phytase. OptiPhos is most active at pH levels common in the animal's upper digestive tract, where phytate phosphorus digestion is greatest. In addition, unlike first-generation phytases, OptiPhos is resistant to pepsin, the primary digestive enzyme of the stomach).

The use of OptiPhos results in an improved diet for poultry, as producers are able to reduce, or even eliminate, the amount of costly inorganic phosphorus in the diet. Using less inorganic phosphorus allows for the addition of more energy (corn, soybeans), producing an enhanced diet.

OptiPhos benefits the environment by significantly reducing phosphorus levels in litter. Less phosphorus in litter results in less phosphorus being released into the environment which:

  • Reduces the amount of land required for safe litter application
  • Significantly extends the number of years you can apply litter to farmland
  • Reduces the risk of adverse environmental impact
